Station to scare up treats for Halloween

For those with candy-craving costumed kids, or those old ghouls and ghosts who want to get into the spirit of Halloween, the tricks and treats offered on station this year might just make you scream.

The Trunk or Treat event returns to the child development center parking lot on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. As a twist on traditional house-to-house trick-or-treating, parents can pass out candy from their vehicles' decorated trunks. The three spookiest trunks will earn Marine Corps Community Services gift certificates. Contests for best costumes, pumpkin carving and pie eating are also scheduled. For more information, call 928-269-5390.

For military housing on base and on 16th Street in Yuma, traditional trick-or-treating hours are 6-8 p.m. Saturday, said Mark Smith, housing manager.

On Friday, the station's bowling alley will host a cosmic bowling Halloween party from 7-9 p.m., but only those in costume can bowl. Cost is $10, which includes games, shoes and food. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

Next door at the station theater, any moviegoer who wears a costume Friday will be presented with a free ticket for a future movie and a coupon for an item at the snack bar.

In the club scene, two Halloween parties are scheduled for Friday. Club Infinities will host a farewell bash for those here for the Weapons and Tactics Instructors course. Cover charge is $10. For officers and staff noncommissioned officers, a Halloween party will be held in the Sonoran Pueblo. Patrons must be 18 or older to attend either event. For more information, call 928-269-2711.

With the combination of a haunted house, paintball and rock 'n' roll, the Halloween Madness event promises to live up to its name. The event is scheduled for Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Devil Dog Paintball Park.

A rock concert, featuring the band 3 Strikes May, and haunted house are free for all ages.

The haunted house will be family friendly, but still a little bit scary, said Shelbie Rabun, assistant manager for Arizona Adventures. The band is also suitable for all ages.

A paintball tournament is scheduled as well, and costumes are encouraged. Entry fee is $50 for a three-man team. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team and those with the best costumes.

To register for the tournament, or for more information on Halloween Madness, call 928-269-2848.
